Tea in Kenya

Sitting on a bus from Kampala to Nairobi is one of the least exciting things I have done in my life. It was very comfortable as we paid a whole lot more for the “royal” service, but the bus got 2 punctures, was an hour late leaving, and was infested with cockroaches. One the journey we saw vast areas of sugar cane plantations, some rice paddies, and tea plantations. After 15 and a half hours we made it. We stayed with the parents of some friends from the UK and when we awoke in the morning we found ourselves in the middle of tea country. IMG_3649 (800x600)

We went for a walk through the plantations which was great and good for taking photos. I’m sure one day someone will say tea is their most important plant. We intended to visit the local tea factory and record some plant stories, but instead we caught the worst vomiting bug I’ve ever had and were laid low for a few days.
