Climbing Redwoods

Not long before I finished my trainee position at the Oxford Botanic Gardens, Ben Jones was given the position of curator of the Harcourt Arboretum. The arb is a fantastic place with some amazing trees. You should visit it.

On a trainee day at the arb I filmed as much footage as I could of Ben climbing one of the redwoods to take out some dead branches. I didnt have a tripod, and this was the first project I had filmed on my (now stolen) Nikon D90, so please excuse the shakey camera and some bad focus. Also – the piece is edited on Windows Movie Maker. Not the finest piece of software… but I am happy enough considering.

Ben has just returned from climbing in California where the worlds tallest trees are. Check out his blog.
